About Us
Built to own. Not to exit.
Canfield Thomas was founded on a simple conviction: the best outcomes for businesses, employees, and communities come from patient, committed ownership — not from financial engineering or short-term mandates.
Our Story
Canfield Thomas was founded to bring together experience in business operations, finance, technology, and organizational leadership with a long-term approach to ownership. We believe good businesses deserve owners who think in decades rather than quarters—and who understand that lasting value is built through strong operations, sound financial stewardship, and investment in people.
Canfield Thomas acquires enduring businesses with the intention of owning them for the long term. We are not building around a predetermined exit timeline. We measure success by sustainable cash flow, stronger companies, and the long-term health of the businesses we steward. Today, we are actively seeking acquisition opportunities in select industries where our experience and approach can add value.
Our Principles
What We Believe
Long-Term Ownership
We acquire businesses without a predetermined exit date. Our default is to hold for the long term, allowing us to make decisions based on what is best for the enduring health of the business.
People Matter
A successful business is built by its employees, customers, systems, and culture. We seek to understand what makes a company successful before changing it, preserving its strengths while investing where improvement can create lasting value.
Honest Dealing
We say what we mean and do what we say. Every conversation is confidential and every term is fair.
Long-Term Thinking
We measure success in decades. Our decisions reflect the interests of the business, its employees, and its customers — not a quarterly report.
